Bolt Not Worried about 100M!

The 21-year-old, who is attempting to become the first Jamaican to win the Olympic crown, added that he was in good form as he focuses on his bid to see off compatriot, and former world record-holder, Asafa Powell, and American world champion, Tyson Gay.
“I’m not worried,” said Bolt, who timed 9.72 seconds in late May to become the fastest man in the world.
“I’m in good form and for the moment everything is going well,” added Bolt, who will try for the 100/200m double.
Bolt, who took silver in the 200m at last year’s World Championships in Osaka, added that he was not concerned by the weather or the air quality in the Chinese capital.
“It is neither too humid nor too hot,” said Bolt.
Should Bolt, who went through a light workout the day after arriving at the Athletes Village from the Jamaican training camp in Tianjin, do the double he would become the first to achieve that since Carl Lewis in Los Angeles in 1984.
The 100m heats get underway on Friday with the final on Saturday.
Powell, too, was making positive noises about his chances in the eagerly-awaited sprint showdown.
“I am very confident as far as my chances are concerned in taking the gold medal home,” said Powell, who was third in the World Championship final last year and then lost his world record to Bolt in May.
But he has since defeated Bolt in Stockholm and ran 9.82sec in Monaco.
“It was my objective to try and get a quick time before the Olympics,” said Powell. “I’m happy to have done it. I know I’m in good form.”
